INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS is a brand new concept in electrical control.
Designed to meet the stringent requirements of major corporate customers, INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS can save you money, make your business more efficient and improve your security. INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS does not require extensive installation work. So it can be installed in existing premises as easily as in new builds. System Overview Many premises such as factories, shops and offices, contain electrical equipment, which needs to be on for only a portion of each day. A cold drinks dispenser for instance, only needs to be on when the factory is working, with staff on the premises; it does not need to be on when the factory is closed stat and unoccupied, e.g. night. The same applies, of course, to hot drinks dispensers and a wide range of other apparatus including air conditioning units, space heaters, water heaters, fans, lights and so forth. Energy costs are saved if equipment is switched off when it is not needed. In the past this has been done (if at all) either by appointing somebody to go around the premises and switch the equipment on and off as appropriate or by installing time switches. Both of these approaches have problems. People are costly, they need holidays and they fall sick, they are forgetful and sometimes careless, and they may not even be able to get at the switches very easily. Time switches are inflexible, and con not readily accommodate the varying working hours which are commonplace in 21st Century business. INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS systems overcome both the fallibility of staff and the inflexibility of time switches. The basic idea of INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS is very simple: remotely controlled switches are put into the electrical supply to the selected equipment. Whatever the quantity of this equipment and however scattered across your site, it can all be turned on or off at once by a single operation. Sophisticated electronics ensure that this simple operation works every time, even over an extended range or in the presence of interference. At the heart of the INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS system are switching receivers which are remotely controlled. Either fixed controllers or mobile controllers may be used, and both kinds may be used together. And repeaters are available for installation wherever necessary to cover a large site and/or any blind spots. Systems for all applications can be built up from these basic units. The INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS system is designed to ensure safe, reliable, trouble-free operation at all times. How it works Just replace any electrical socket with a special INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS socket containing a radio-controlled relay which you control from a distance. Control as many items as you want, with multiple INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS relays. And by controlling individual machines you get flexibility - to re-organise offices, for instance - which is simply not available from dedicated circuits. Complete Package
Applications The INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS system of remote control can be used in three quite different applications.
These applications are not mutually exclusive, and many users will gain cumulative benefits from INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS. INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS controls all or individual power and lighting circuits through wireless technology from a remote central point and ensures all non-essential electricity supplies are isolated when buildings are unoccupied. Controllers can be either mobile or installed in any convenient location. INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS gives the operator flexible management of energy, eliminates waste and can be linked into any Building Management System and/or Security System. This would ensure all non-essential electricity supplies are isolated when the security alarm is set. When a building is unoccupied, lights can be switched on or off remotely without anyone entering - an additional security benefit. Installation involves minimal wiring and causes no damage to existing walls and ceilings. Conduit, trunking, channelling or surface wiring are not required. INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS is
operated by wireless technology and incorporates relays rated up to
16 amps which are installed within power and lighting circuits. If individual
socket outlets are required to be controlled a direct replacement can
be installed, consisting of socket and relay combined. Transmitters operate on 433MHz, they are coded for reliability and to differentiate between adjacent systems. Recurrent signals ensure that the system remains in its correct state and is not affected by interference. Transmitters are available in various forms -
Repeaters can be installed when controlling circuits over greater distances, (more than 100m). INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS was developed under the Smart Micro Project with grant aid from the DTI and is subject to a continual development programme. The following standards apply: CE marked INTELLIGENT ELECTRICS is flexible, reliable and cost effective. |
