Cleardome Solar Products available from Solarsaver

At last, here's an inexpensive way to reduce the high costs of heating living or working spaces in the chill of winter by using either of two new ClearDome Solar Forced Air Heaters.

As long as the sun shines, you'll feel the constant warmth from pure, safe, free solar energy.

Even partly cloudy or light overcast days will add warmth to your home, office, RV, boat or camper.

It's not magic. . .

Just a simple, but clever way to convert abundant sunshine into warm air without the high costs of conventional heating. The expense for conventional heating will continue to rise through the years. The expense for solar heating will not.

Our solar thermal air products are among the most efficient, least expensive type of renewable energy home appliances available today.

An estimated 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide will be eliminated each year they are in use.

In fact, they are so efficient, we've recorded five degreee temperature increases in the shade or on overcast days! Solar electric (PV, or photovoltaic) panels are rated at 7-14% efficient while solar air heating panels such as ours are rated at an estimated 70-75% efficient.

That means that for the solar energy absorbed, far less energy is lost in the heat conversion, so you'll spend far less money to enjoy the benefits of renewable energy.

So if you're fed up with the expensive fees of living "on the grid" and are considering clean renewable energy for quick and cheap air heating, our high quality solar thermal air collectors are an excellent way to start enjoying the savings and satisfaction of preserving the environment without the high initial startup costs. For absolutely free solar heat, you can order our optional unbreakable solar electric panels or use your own for backup fan power.

ClearDome Solar Forced Air Heaters come in two sizes for work, home and travel.

An average size bedroom (12' X 15') will warm by about 8-12 degrees F when heated with a single exterior or interior 2' X 4' heating panel equipped with the standard 105 CFM, 12 volt fan. There is only a slight air flow drop by the time it exits the panel and returns to the room when using 3-5' of insulated ducting.

For longer ducting runs we suggest increasing the fan size for more CFM. That equals a 25°F to 35°F temperature increase of the incoming air with a rapid air exchange during sunny midday heating.

The exterior only panel comes with an installed internal panel thermostat that turns the fan when on the panel reaches about 100 degrees, then off at about 70 degrees. So if it's too cloudy, or dark you won't have cold air sent into your room.

Read below about our two heat collectors indoor/oudoor window mounted forced air heater and the giant 4' X 8' heating panel for condos and small homes or businesses.

Good news for mountain home owners...

You'll be able to generate even hotter temperatures because of higher solar radiation from a thinner atmosphere and surrounding snow. During a winter heating test at the snowy 9,500-foot level of Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in California the interior temperature of a 10' X 20' insulated ski lift operator's building rose from 42 degrees F to 64 degrees in slightly more than an hour using the exterior mounted 2x4 panel shown in the above photos.

The internal 5,000 watt, 480 volt electric heater was turned off during the test because it wasn't needed. Mammoth electricians estimated that it costs $2-$3 per day to operate, compared to a mere three cents a day for our solar space heaters using the 110 volt fans. It's not hard to figure the cost savings. Outdoors, the temperature started at 42 degrees and warmed to 51 degrees during the test.

By coupling to an additional solar heating panel, the output temperatures will increase by an additional 30°F or more with a slight drop in air flow. Adding two or more ClearDome Solar heating panels will sufficiently heat larger spaces.

The fans are used to draw cold air from a closed space and return warm solar heated air.
They can be powered by optional solar electric (PV) panels, car power, a rechargable battery, or 110 volt house current.

Other air flows can be used if rated at 75-125 CFM. For inexpensive automatic on/off operation using house current, add an inexpensive appliance plug-in wall timer to start the fan when the sun hits the panel, and stop the fan when the sun has left. Digital timer/thermostats can also be used to regulate on/off control. Our newly upgraded heaters will come with installed thermostat switches in the panels.

Home heating bills can be slashed even when using house current to power the fan on the 2X4 heater. It costs less than 25 cents per month to operate six hours every day! Compare that to a standard 800-1000 watt space heater, which costs about $23-$25 per month for the same usage. In numerous test comparisons, our 2' X 4' solar space heater out-performed the typical 1000 watt electric/fan portable room heaters set on low or medium.

Deger Energie's new tracking system

Perfect for export: A prototype of the tracking system has been in operation in Portugal since the end of 2001.

The building-block principle: Deger Energie's new Sol-Traker is broken down into separate pieces to reduce transport costs.

The Sol-Traker 1000 EL works with all standard solar module types and can handle a total module surface area of up to 10 m² and a maximum weight of 300 kg; the Sol-Traker 1200 EL can handle 12 m² and 350 kg. The biaxial tracking system is steered independently by sensors. In rainy or foggy weather, the system automatically tips the module surfaces into a horizontal position to best exploit the incoming diffuse light.

According to Andreas Bett, team leader at the research institute Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, Germany, the tracking system is suitable for use in Central Europe. The system can help increase the energy yield by 15 to 25 percent, though the absolute yield is naturally greater in sunnier regions. That's why Artur Deger, the company's manager, is primarily looking to export the device.

In contrast to the original Sol-Traker series, which was composed of three separate pieces, the new system consists of seven parts and is 100 kg lighter, so that Deger Energie can reduce shipment costs for the customer while maintaining the product price. The complete system consists of a 3 m long mast, a drive mechanism, the steering electronics, and the structural design.

The length of the tracker's mast can be increased to 6.8 m. The steering and drive mechanism require around 1 to 2 kWh per year for their operation.
